The Toews Family

The Toews are close friends of ours who have recently found out they will by joining Greater Europe Missions as missionaries.  They needed a family portrait for prayer and support cards so they joined me at Bowness Park for a quick shoot.  For those interested in more of their story follow the link to their website. Here are some of the best shots.

John & Leslie-ann's Wedding

When I woke up the morning of John & Leslie-ann's wedding the weather was certainly a little wicked with some decent windchill.  This was a little bit of a concern especially since their ceremony was out of doors in Nose Creek Park.  On the upside, mud was not a concern!  There was not a moment's delay during the ceremony to spare all attendees frostbite but it was a wedding that will not quickly pass from memory.  John & Leslie-ann's devotion to each other was completely evident throughout the time I had with them and I appreciated their willingness to brave the elements for their photos.  Thanks for the great day guys, and congrats again!

Afternoon at the Playground

We have had some lovely weather to get out to the playground these last few weeks.  The kids always enjoy afternoons out!

Girls Night In

Scott and Wyatt took an opportunity to go out for a Boy's Night and attended the Flames vs Penguins game about a week ago.  Since Shannon and I were to stay at home I thought I'd make the night special for her too.  We found an Angelina Ballerina DVD at the library and took a walk over to Superstore during the day to pick up some new pink nail polish.  Once the boys had left for the night we made a bit of a mess making rice crispy squares and then watched our movie.  Well Shannon watched the movie and I played around with the camera.  Here are some shots from that night.

Even Princesses Get Sick

The day Shannon came down with her illness she managed to gather enough energy to dress up as a fairy princess, for a little while anyway.  We are very pleased to have her back again after a long 10 days, dressing up in her fancy attire!

Emery Turns 1

Some glimpses of Emery's first birthday.  The cookie cake was a hit as well as all wrapping paper.  May your cheekiness never fail you Emers!

Snow on the Slide

Before Shannon got sick she enjoyed playing on Nana & Bapa's treehouse slide.  Every kid knows that the combination of snowpants and a snow covered slide makes for fantastic fun.  Enjoy these shots of Shannon  in her element.

Canadians

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without sleigh rides and Dad's Canadian horses.  Again, the weather was idyllic and even though I didn't catch my own ride, I enjoyed snapping a few shots.

Blue

I absolutely adore the color blue.  Always have.  My son has also developed a love for the color, to a fault I must say.  Give him something pink and his world collapses around him.  Still the beauty of blue takes my breath away.  I do also find however, that blue alone can be cold and lifeless, but combine it with the warmth of yellows and reds and suddenly it's perfect.  People who know me know that I'm an Albertan to my very marrow and that I'd rather enjoy winter in all it's glory than escape to foreign climes.  What could possibly beat the bluest of skies and the brightest of suns combined with redemptive white snow?  The following photos are a representation of this beauty, slight as they may be.

Thing One & Thing Two

These two cousins are becoming better friends the older they get.  Born three weeks apart, their earlier years brought a fair amount of conflict between the two, but they're discovering their common interests now that they're three.  It's amazing how princesses and pink can cement a friendship!

A Taste of the North

This Christmas up in Eaglesham was quite wonderful with perfect weather for being out of doors.  We enjoyed time with friends, the kids had quality cousin time and we ate lots and lots of delicious food...plus more food.  As wonderful as Christmas was, the kids did end up getting quite sick with Shannon landing in the Children's Hospital with pneumonia as soon as we arrived back in Airdrie. We are very thankful that she has recovered and back at home with her brother.  A shout out to everyone out there who prayed for and supported our family, thanks so much again! Finally being home has allowed me to get my house in order and take a closer look at the images from our holidays. Stay tuned over the next few days for more captures.  As for the image below, these two boys pretty much had to be dragged home each time they went to play hockey.  Their stamina and determination impressed me, it won't be long before I won't be able to keep up.  May we never forget the roots of our favorite sport!
